Summary
It’s Day 16, the final day of the Paris Olympics. After nearly three weeks a first for Olympics history occurred as the Women’s Marathon would conclude the Athletics portion of the games for the first time. It highlighted the first time in the history of the games that both women and men had the same amount of participants.
The Netherland’s Sifan Hassan sought to accomplish what only one person in the history of the games had ever done before, which was to medal in the 5000m, 10,000m, and now the marathon. That person was the famed Emil Zátopek from the Czech Republic, whom she named her project after.
After the Marathon I made my way East to Bercy Arena to watch the final competition of the Olympics, the women’s basketball gold medal match between Team USA and France. The game lived up to the billing and came down to the final shot, where Team USA came away with its eighth straight gold medal.
