Marée basse // Low Tide, Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Gift to Paris

The Third Wave of Covid Lockdowns Retreated and Paris Welcomed the Fall with Open Arms

Marée basse // Low Tide, L'Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped

Marée basse // Low Tide was made in celebration of Christo and Jeanne-Claude's L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped exhibition. The third wave of covid lockdowns came to an end towards the end of that Summer. And in a moment where the tide had retreated, the city came alive, brought out and together by the opening of the exhibition. An estimated six million people attended in person.

Planned by the conceptual artist 60 years ago, the posthumous work transforms a great monument with a glistening cloak. It feels like a liberating moment for the city," wrote Roger Cohen in the NY Times.

It was wonderful being able to attend on the first and last days and seeing people from all walks of life enjoy a moment together in the midst of the pandemic. Beaucoup de rires et sourires.
